Recently, our young, vibrant, inquisitive, intelligent and very energetic and active Dobermann underwent knee surgery. This means that she needs to be off her feet and kept quite, yet happy, for some time. Trying to meet these requirements, as pet parents, is not an easy one. In preparation for her recuperation, I did some research and discovered a perfect distraction for her. It was a Snuffle Bowl Mat. It’s something that she can use without having to get up and stand… and it hides a multitude of yummy treats.
Said treats have to be light, nutritious and hold medicinal properties as well as be appealing for my doggo. Winston & Co Fish Sticks, L'Barkery Fish N Crisps, L'Barkery Green Lipped Mussels and L'Barkery Guppie Ear Chewz proved to be very wise choices. Not only has my dog loved every second of fossicking for her treats, she enjoyed eating them, and enjoys snuffling up the smells long after the treats are in her tummy.
And, while I was bringing food to my invalid baby, I thought there must be an easier - and less cumbersome way - to bring her a fresh drink of water. That’s when I found the Dog Travel Water Squeeze Bottle (Blue - 500ml). While it was initially designed to use while out and about (water bottle and doggy cup, all in one conveniently sized, easy-to-use unit) I decided to purchase one to see if it kept everyone dry on the outside while keeping my dog hydrated on the inside. I was unsure if she would use such a nifty device but my fears turned out to be unwarranted. She loves her bottle so much that, even though she is at a point where she is quite able to get up and walk to her food and water bowls, she seems to get a kick from drinking from her special receptacle.
With a bit of parental care thrown in, the benefits from the snuffle bowl mat, the drink bottle and all the beneficial treats, the vet is super impressed at her progress.
